North Shore Camping Trip 8/21 - 8/25

posted Aug 20, 2014, 7:01 AM by Eagan Scouts

Plan to meet at the church at 8:00am on Thursday, the troop is expected to return to the church around 3pm on Monday.  We will plan to have your son call you when we are nearing Eagan and have an more accurate arrival time. Plan to pack a sack lunch for the drive up.  We plan to stop at a restaurant for lunch on the drive home, so send lunch money with your son.  If you prefer a leader to hang onto the lunch money, put it in an envelope with your son’s name on it.

The troop has a summer camping packing list to guide your son in packing for this campout.  The list can be found under the Forms/Downloads section of the website at: http://www.mntroop510.org/forms-downloads.  We wanted to call out a few specific things to remember for this campout: A bike helmet (as we may be biking), a day pack for hiking, a swim suite for canoeing, warm clothes (forecasted lows are in the 50s, highs are in the 60s and 70s), rain gear, extra shoes (a sturdy pair of shoes/boots for hiking are preferred), and shower supplies.  As usual your son should plan to store any items with a scent in a container that we will store in the trailer, these items should not be kept in his tent.  We have more space with the new trailer, so your son is welcome to bring a camp chair with him on the campout as well.

We will be grocery shopping for the campout tonight (Wed. Aug. 20th) at 7:00pm at the southern Eagan Cub Foods.  Although not required for the boys attending the campout, it is highly encouraged to participate.

The leaders attending the campout are Ken Loher, Scott Rajala and Bryan Rieffer.  We will be staying at the Cascade River State Park.  The address is 3481 West Highway 61 Lutsen, MN 55612.  Their website address is http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/cascade_river/index.html

posted Apr 21, 2014, 5:58 AM by Eagan Scouts

The troop will be doing our annual spring highway cleanup  on Tuesday, April 22nd.  Please note that we are meeting an hour earlier at 6pm so we can have more time to work while it is still light outside.  Plan at  to wear boots, a class B T-shirt (no class A uniform), and work gloves.  Parent participation is appreciated as we tend to break into a four groups and need two deep leadership for each group.  Siblings that are old enough to help out have also joined us in the past.

If the weather doesn’t cooperate, our backup plan is to meet at the School of Environmental Studies for some Earth Day related activities.  We plan to communicate any changes due to weather by email tomorrow.  The School of Environmental Studies is located on Johnny Cake Ridge Road between Cliff and McAndrews roads.

Jan. 21st meeting / Pack 108 Scout Day

posted Jan 20, 2014, 4:07 PM by Eagan Scouts

Hi everybody!

Due to the predicted freezing temps tomorrow, Alex has decided we will move the boot hockey we had planned for tomorrow night to February and instead do our TTT at Shooter's.  So the plan now is to meet at Shooter's at 6:15.

Also, Pack 108 has asked us to help out with their annual "Scout Day" on February 8 from 1-4 pm at Oak Ridge.  They would like some scouts to run some activity stations (inside) along with their Webelo 2s (who will all be crossing over to our troop at the end of February!).  I am hoping there will be several scouts (and hopefully a couple of leaders) who step up to help out the pack....so please let me know who might be interested. We will plan more details next week at PLC.

Stay warm!!!
Jane
